Eligibility
Criteria
*** IMPORTANT ***: Being determined "eligible" does not guarantee you will be "approved" for housing recovery assistance.
Due to program limitations, participation is limited to low to moderate income households (or property owners that rent to low to moderate income households) that have documented Hurricane Ike damage, or documented after effect damage sustained as a direct result of having long termin unrepaired Ike damage. There are many factors which affect housing assistance: Federal funding availability, number of eligible households, program deadlines/restrictions, construction limitations, etc.
Households must be low to moderate income to qualify. Applicants must have lived at the housing unit on September 13, 2008, the day of Ike's landfall whether they owned or rented the property. Household "gross" annual income must be at or below 80% of the HUD established Area Median Income (AMI). See HUD income by county: HUD Income Chart (PDF).
Your
home must be located in one of the following counties: Austin, Brazoria, Fort Bend, Matagorda,
Walker and Waller and all of the cities therein.
The
home or rental unit must have existing structural damage as a result of Hurricane Ike, which
made landfall on September 13, 2008. Third party verification required.
Secondary and vacation homes are NOT eligible for assistance.
All applicants must provide proof
they owned or leased and occupied the property damaged as a result of Hurricane Ike prior to September 13, 2008.
